CELL PRESERVATION & GENETIC BANK
From a simple tissue sample, we culture and preserve equine cells in our genetic bank. Taking the sample in time preserves your horse’s genetics and allows you to decide later whether to clone.
WHEN SHOULD YOU TAKE A SAMPLE?
Taking a sample is recommended whenever you wish to protect the genetics of a horse for its sport record, pedigree, progeny, reproductive potential, or special bond, even if you have not decided to clone yet. Whenever possible, we recommend doing so while the horse is active and healthy.
«Preservar no te compromete a clonar. Evita perder la oportunidad de hacerlo.»
HOW IS A HORSE’S GENETICS PRESERVED?
We coordinate obtaining and shipping the tissue biopsy to our laboratory.
We isolate and culture primary cell lines, verifying viability and cell health.
We store the cell line in cryogenic liquid nitrogen tanks with full digital tracking and identification.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The sample is obtained through a simple biopsy performed by a veterinarian. We prepare a guide covering the full procedure and the requirements to take the sample correctly.
Cell lines can be cryopreserved indefinitely, keeping the possibility of starting a cloning project open for the future.
Yes. The sample must be obtained while the horse is alive. In exceptional situations it is also possible to work if the team is notified immediately after death, since the window to recover viable cells is very limited. In any urgent situation, we recommend contacting Synergy before taking any action.
